Solicitors, barristers, members of the judiciary and the other branches of the legal profession gathered together on 9 November at Liverpool Law Society’s 190th Annual Dinner.
Following a drinks reception, members and guests sat down to a three course meal and then charged their glasses to hear from a star list of speakers. The Rt Hon. Sir Brian Leveson, President of the Queen’s Bench Division opened with a fond recollection of his days when he was a barrister, then a QC and finally a judge in Liverpool, commenting on the legal firsts coming from Liverpool. This was followed by the President John Ballam’s reply who also talked about his roots firmly placed in Liverpool. Then Nina Ferris, Vice President, took to the podium and spoke to those present in the room about members engaging with Liverpool Law Society and the importance of taking part. Max Steinberg CBE closed the formal part of the evening with his recollections of his beginnings in Liverpool to the future and the 2018 International Business Festival.
The thanks of the Society went to all who attended and in particular the sponsors who make such events possible: Kingsley, Thomson Reuters, TitleSolv and VFS Legal.
