Your local Law Society
If you have an interest in shaping the profession, having a say on matters that affect lawyers and their businesses locally and nationally, and promoting lawyers, and legal work undertaken, in the Liverpool City Region and surrounding areas, then you should consider getting involved with Liverpool Law Society.
We have a range of specialist committees where you will make professional contacts and friends, learn from other’s best practice and work shoulder to shoulder with other legal professionals, regardless of status and seniority.
Becoming a director and member of General Committee is an opportunity to shape the future of one of the most active local Law Societies in England and Wales. The Society’s AGM takes place every year in the last week of November. All members of the Society are eligible for election to the General Committee, but only Full Members can vote in the election, either in person or by proxy. You must be nominated by three members of the Society and serve a three-year term. The Society would like to encourage all members to think about becoming a director so that we are fully representative of our membership.
“The Society can only do so much, the members have to get involved to push it (the Society) forwards, to keep it fresh and to make sure it survives to support future generations of lawyers in Liverpool….Where Liverpool Law Society is most valuable is by providing a forum where we can bring members together, to talk and to exchange views, but members have to engage with us.” said Nina Ferris, President in 2017-18.
Email committees@liverpoollawsociety.org.uk for further information or to request to join one of the committees.
