Liverpool Law Society was pleased to hold the newly qualified solicitors and barristers event for all those who qualified in the area during 2020 and 2021, together with academic prizewinners and those judged to have made the most all round contribution to the Merseyside Junior Lawyers Division. The event, held at 6:00pm on 15 June 2022, in the Hard Day’s Night Hotel, was privileged to have a key speaker in His Honour Judge Parker, who is the Designated Family Judge for Merseyside and Cheshire.
Photos of the evening are available to view here:
President of the Liverpool Law Society, Steve Zdolyny, started off proceedings with an opening speech and thanked all those in attendance and Hays Recruitment, the kind sponsors of the event. Celebrations being long overdue for some, given the toll the pandemic has had on the profession and in general. He handed matters over to Chelsea Kearns, Chair of the Merseyside Junior Lawyers Division, who, among other matters, explained the important work of the MJLD and that they are a non-profit organisation. Chelsea also explained that the criteria to qualify as a member of the MJLD has been significantly widened, and it not simply for newly qualified solicitors or trainees.
Judge Parker then gave a fantastic speech and explained his own background, starting off as a Barrister in 1987. He provided some useful tips to those who had just qualified and made a powerful statement in respect of the work we do as legal professions and that money should not always be our motivator.
Special thanks go to the staff at the Hard Day’s Night Hotel, the sponsors of the event Hays Recruitment, and to the speakers. It was clear to see that the future of the profession, in the north west, is very bright.
A full write up on the event will appear in the July 2022 edition of ‘Liverpool Law’ which will appear here.
