Probate Delays: Call for Action
An article appeared in the online Gazette indicating that there was to be a consultation on the proposed closure of the DPRs.
I tried to follow this up to ask for the nature of the consultation and how to get involved. I was informed by The Law Society that HMCTS have said formally that there is no public consultation taking place on this matter. This is very disappointing news, albeit not unexpected.
The Law Society’s Modernising Justice Team are due to meet with HMCTS at the end of January/early February to review the probate service. They have asked if I would like to send through any comments/concerns I have about the proposed closures they would be happy to raise these in the meeting.
CALL FOR ACTION
Please let me have succinct examples of the delay and the consequences for the bereaved or other beneficiaries such as charities. I would like to send as many as possible to give an indication of how awful the service has become.
The deadline for responses is 5pm on Friday 17th January, please send your responses to committees@liverpoollawsociety.org.uk
