As a member of Liverpool Law Society (LLS) you will have full use of the facilities at the University of Liverpool’s Law Library meaning you can access the following:
- 24 hour library access
- Electronic Resources
- Photocopying Facilities
- Interlibrary loans
- Support and help from Law Liaison Staff (available 9.00-5.00pm Monday – Friday)
The Law Collection is located on the 1st and 2nd floor of the Abercromby Wing of the Sydney Jones Library, the Law Collection contains key reference works such as Halsburys Laws and Halsburys Statutes, plus historical material such as Statutes at Large and older law reports series which are not available online. Current general and specialist law reports series and academic journals are also available. Jurisdictions covered include the UK, the EU, Canada, the US and Australia.
In addition to primary sources and academic journals, there is a large collection of textbooks and monographs reflecting the teaching and research interests of the Liverpool Law School staff and students. Both the Sydney Jones and the Harold Cohen Libraries are open 24 hours a day during the academic year. If you wish to speak to a member of staff when you visit the library, please ensure that you visit during staffed hours. If you have any queries beforehand speak to a member of staff on 0151 795 8504.
Liverpool Law Society members can join the Library as borrowing members. To apply for a library card, please apply in person at either the Sydney Jones or Harold Cohen Library. Bring photo identification and proof of Liverpool Law Society Membership. To obtain proof of LLS membership please send an email to committees@liverpoollawsociety.org.uk and when we respond print out the response as proof of your Liverpool Law Society membership. Membership of the University Library will be for one year and can be renewed.
The Sydney Jones library is located on Abercromby Square, Chatham St, Liverpool L7 7BD and the Harold Cohen Library is located at Harold Cohen Library, Ashton Street, Liverpool, L3 5TX.
Liverpool Law Society members can borrow ten items for two weeks (with the exception of short loan items). Society members can borrow material from the entire print collection; borrowing rights are not restricted to the Law Collection.
